I had the great pleasure to have a "deep dive" conversation with Christy McGuire from Workplace Options about why Empathetic Leadership is vital to creating sustainable holistic workplace wellbeing.
"Empathy (along with other so-called 'soft skills' like emotional intelligence, agility, psychological safety and mindfulness) are often turned into monetized buzzwords and become completely misunderstood and diluted, so it’s no surprise true empathy is largely lacking in the workplace. They are dismissed as 'soft' but are actually Powerhouse skills IMO - yet they become empty platitudes when companies only pay lip service to them and are not actually authentically championed in a Workplace Code of lived ethical and humane conduct. The fact is they take continuous work to genuinely embody and reflect back into whatever sphere of influence every one of us has...
